Welcome to Transformation Tuesday!
In my last post I shared the very exciting story of how I got my globe.
Now I would like to share with you its transformation.
The before:
The vision:
A contemporary piece of artwork that I can mark where I want to go.
The tools:
Basics Acrylic paint colors: Bright Aqua, Emerald and Copper and a synthetic brush.
The location:
I wasn't positive at the time where I would want to put it, so I didn't get a shot of the before location, but I will try to give you a visual. I had a tall jewlery armoire type thing in a dark stain with a white starfish table decor and a small statue of a seahorse on top. Oh, I also had an unappealing stack of magazines between the legs.
The after:
First I painted the stand with coppera(about three coats); it's like a shiny new penny! ;)
I then went on to mix 2/3 Bright Aqua to 1/3 Emerald to paint over the globe itself. It looked a big to plain when I finished so I decided to have a little fun on the equator.
I have noticed that the paint scratches off very easily on the surface of the globe, so may plan is to us a sharp point and simply outline everywhere I want to go or I may try to find a white sharpie.
New location:
I had this stand in my closet, with a broken ceramic top, I flipped it over and placed my starfish table decor on top; perfect fit! Since I removed my armoire-now in my closet- I realized I still needed easy access to all of my regularly worn necklaces, so I hung them on the starfish.(I love useful decor) I took my unruly magazine pile and threw out all but my "Instyle ones" I kept three, that matched the tone of my room out, as where the other 20 are in my closet. I used blue burlap that is already in various locations in my room to tie everything in and placed a couple shells on that.
Overall:
I love it! It goes perfectly with everything else in my room. I can't wait to outline my travel dreams!
Have you been doing any fun re-vamping lately?
